MEMORISE: Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me. (Psalm 50:15)
The psalmist, while in captivity, had sought the Lord with frequent prayers for his own personal salvation, and for the deliverance of the people. God blessed him, heard his prayers, and turned the captivity. Now that he is returned in safety, he is determined to perform his vows to the Lord, and calls on all them that fear their Maker, who have any religious reverence for Him, to attend to his account of the Lord’s gracious dealings with him.
Dr. Helen Roseveare, a missionary to Zaire, shared the same lesson that God is attentive to our prayers. He told this story: _”A mother at our mission station died after giving birth to a premature baby. We tried to improvise an incubator to keep the infant alive, but the only hot water bottle we had was beyond repair. So, we asked the children to pray for the baby and for her sister. One of the girls responded, ‘Dear God, please send a hot water bottle, today. Tomorrow will be too late, because by then, the baby will be dead. And dear Lord, send a doll for the sister, so she won’t feel so lonely.’_
That afternoon, a large package arrived from England. The children watched eagerly as we opened it. Much to their surprise, under some clothing was a hot water bottle! Immediately the girl who had prayed so earnestly started to dig deeper, exclaiming, _’If God sent that, I’m sure He also sent a doll!’_ And she was right! The heavenly Father knew in advance of that child’s sincere requests, and 5 months earlier He had led a ladies’ group to include both of those specific articles.”
1. For your name’s sake, O Lord, preserve my life; in Your righteousness, bring me out of trouble.
2. Present a very specific biting issue to God in prayer, with the strong faith that He would do it, according to His will.
3. Pray for the revival of faith-based, mountain-moving and Bible-based prayers among Christians.
