Ever heard of song therapy? In the last Puritan, Santayana wrote, “To be happy was to sing; not to be made to sing, or to sing by rote, or as an art or for a purpose, but spontaneously, religiously, because something sang within you and all else for the moment was remote and still”. A man was hospitalized with a rare, crippling disease. When it was diagnosed as incurable, he left the hospital. Aware of the harmful effects that negative emotions could have on the body, he reasoned the reverse was true. So, he borrowed a movie projector and prescribed his own treatment. It did not take long for him to discover that 10 minutes of singing and joy provided two hours of pain – free sleep, and amazingly, his debilitating disease was eventually reversed.
Beloved, for you know that joy is curative and can improve your health? So, no matter what challenges you are going through, always avoid moodiness and gloominess, and remember that there is no greater joy than being joyful in the Lord, especially as your name is written in heaven.
CHALLENGE: Change if you have the habit of carrying a sad face at all times.
PRAYER: O God, make me a joyful Christian.
QUOTE: Joy is curative
